Si forma alla scuola Saint Martins di Londra, dove nel 2002
consegue il Diploma Foundation in Art and Design. Sin
dagli esordi, sperimenta una vasta gamma di mezzi
espressivi, dalla pittura murale, alla fotografia, fino
alla realizzazione di opere pittorico-installative, vera
e propria peculiarità del suo lavoro. Dimostra anche
una profonda sensibilità per l’utilizzo di diversi materiali
come alluminio, plexiglas, o materiali di
recupero fino ad installazioni luminose. Simeoni delinea
così le tematiche portanti della sua riflessione:
gli effetti del consumismo globalizzato,
trasformazioni, conflitti sociali, simboli e stereotipi
della storia italiana.
Nel 2008 vince il progetto internazionale
MOVIN’ UP, organizzato dall’associazione Giovani
Artisti Italiani, realizzando la prima doppia Personale
in Beijing (Cina), curata da Filippo Salviati. Nel 2009
organizza e partecipa alla mostra 7 ITALIAN VISION
a Basilea durante Art|40|Basel (Svizzera). Nel 2010
realizza invece la prima mostra personale a Roma,
“Mind The Gap” curata da Francesca Franco presso
la Galleria altri lavori in Corso.
Nel 2011 Partecipa in Germania alla mostra ARS APOCALIPSIS - KUNST UND KOLLAPS
presso KUNSTVEREIN KREIS di GUTERSLOH, curato da
Malte & Henning Boecker, con artisti internazionali
e storici come Gerard Richter e Albert Durer.
Lapo Simeoni
Born in Orbetello, Grosseto in 1979. Studied at the
Saint Martins school in London, where he completed
the Foundation Course in Art and Design in 2002.
From the outset he has worked in a broad range of
expressive media, from mural painting to photography
and the creation of painting-installations, a hallmark
of his work. He also shows a profound sensitivity
to the use of different materials, including
steel, plexiglas and recycled materials, alongside
light installations. Simeoni describes the basic themes
of his artistic research as follows: the effects
of globalized consumerism, symbols and stereotypes
of Italian history.
In 2008 he won the international MOVIN’ UP
project, organized by the GAI organization, holding
his first double personal exhibition in Beijing (China),
curated by Filippo Salviati. In 2009 he organized
and participated in the exhibition 7 ITALIAN VISION
in Basel during Art|40|Basel (Swiss). In 2010
he held his first personal exhibition in Rome, “Mind
the Gap” curated by Francesca Franco at the Altri
Lavori in Corso gallery.
In 2011 participated in the exhibition
ARS APOCALIPSIS - KUNST UND KOLLAPS
KUNSTVEREIN KREIS GUTERSLOH, (Germany), curated
Malte & Henning Boecker, whit international and historical artist
like Gherard Richter and Albrecht Dürer.
